The data infrastructure engineer will play a key role in the success of our data strategy and directly impact critical internal business processes, ultimately enabling insights for decision makers and senior leaders around the globe. You will own the underlying data platform security and infrastructure upon which we build our data ingestion pipelines and to support business, data science, and engineering partners. You will also work with data owners to implement our data pipeline from an array of source systems. You will build and scale data infrastructure for deploying machine learning models and work with Data scientists to productionalize ML models. You will be responsible for the infrastructure and data security aspect of the data platform and work alongside the data governance analyst to deploy data security requirements for all data within MuleSoft. You will support a rapidly growing team of engineers by automating operational tasks, allowing more crafting and less debugging. Your efforts will directly support the efficiency of our MuleSoft organization and our customers’ success, ultimately delivering sustained, rapid growth and enabling the evolution of our operating model. You will collaborate with the Data Engineering Manager within the MuleSoft’s Data team


In addition to using technical data and infrastructure engineering knowledge to drive features and improvements, the successful candidate must be comfortable with rapidly evolving requirements and have good interpersonal skills. This role will require both creativity and working collaboratively with IT as well as the wider data organizations.   • Engineer reliable and scalable connections between source applications and data warehouse infrastructure

  • Work within Salesforce AWS data platform to ensure uptime, reliability, and ease of use through automation, industry-standard standard methodologies, and new and state-of-the-art solutions, keeping security top of mind

  • Take ownership of our architecture, lead our infrastructure through code and strive every day to make it better (more reliable, scalable, etc.)

  • Handle and continuously improve data infrastructure and pipeline system, including Snowflake, and CI/CD Pipelines

  • Maintain and make sure AWS server instances are patched and resolve any vulnerabilities that come up

  • Build and maintain infrastructure for Machine learning and create a MLOps strategy for MuleSoft

  • Enhance the analytics platform to scale data acquisition, data pipeline and data delivery to citizen data analysts

  • Participate in architecture and code reviews

  • Identify, document and promote standard methodologies. Create or update technical documentation for transition to data consumers

  • Support and maintain an analytics technology ecosystem (data warehouse, ETL and BI tools). Run data administration tasks such as scheduling jobs and solving job errors


What you’ll achieve

  • 3 Months

    • Become comfortable with analytics tools and processes by partnering with a member of data engineering team to ramp up effectively

    • Understand the underlying data platform and infrastructure

  • 6 Months

    • Set the strategy and standards for infrastructure and security for our data platform

    • Understand the security and privacy standards associated with the data we have

    • Set the strategy for MLOps

  • 9 Months

    • Own the underlying data infrastructure and create a roadmap

    • Take operational ownership of services you have delivered to production


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, and alerting

  • Experience with Linux systems (e.g. Ubuntu, Amazon Linux) and Bash

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

  • Prior experience utilizing data warehousing or building out data warehouses

  • Experience with GDPR, CCPA and building out Security Frameworks

  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets, pipelines, and their supporting infrastructure ; including ingesting/extracting data from Business Intelligence, Marketing, and CRM tools.

  • Ability to write SQL and experience in python scripting (knowledge of Python data structures is a must) . Knowledge in working with REST and SOAP APIs .

  • Deep understanding of relational and experience working with semi structured data such as JSON. Preferred: Prior experience with Teradata, Presto, Snowflake, Redshift, Tableau and ETL/ELT tools (Matillion and Mulesoft Anypoint a plus).

  • Experience with container deployment platforms and tools, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, CloudFormation and Terraform

  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives at the same time,

  • Ability to work with different technical and business partners across functional field teams to understand and deliver against their data needs

LOCATION: We are open to Fully Remote, Flex (1-3 days/week in the office), or Office-Based (4-5 days/week in office) work arrangements.
